Rails at Scale

A gathering for engineers solving big challenges with Ruby on Rails.

Rails at Scale was a day of open discussion about scaling Rails applications. It’s where engineers working on high-performance, high-traffic systems connected and exchanged insights, best practices, and hard-earned lessons.

When

The Rails at Scale Summit took place the day before Rails World on Sept 3. It was an all day event, followed by a happy hour for attendees.

Thirty six companies gathered to:

  • Learn from other engineers who have scaled Rails in production
  • Share their own insights in open discussions
  • Connect with engineers solving similar challenges at other companies
  • Chat with the Rails Core, Committers and Issues teams

Due to space, this was an invite-only event capped at 100 attendees.

Rails at scale workshop Rails at Scale was sponsored and facilitated by Shopify.

FAQs

We have secured a venue in Amsterdam Noord within easy access to the conference hotel(s), and invited attendees will be sent location details with their registration.

If you’re tackling performance bottlenecks, scaling databases, managing high volumes of traffic, or optimizing large codebases, we’d love to hear from you. “At scale” could refer to the number of Rails devs on your team, or the number of applications/services you are working with.

The agenda will be shaped around the challenges and interests of the attendees. Once applications are reviewed, we’ll tailor the content to address the most relevant topics for the group.

Consider bringing/sending a staff (or senior) engineer who spends significant time on the code solving these problems, or someone who can speak on behalf of your company’s engineering team.

To encourage open and candid discussion, all attendees will be asked to sign an NDA, and no talks will be recorded.

We are pricing out tickets and will publish this shortly. Good to know: Rails at Scale tickets do not include access to Rails World. Rails World tickets will be sold separately.
